Athletes: The Anti-MOtivators!

The other day I rode the Campus Connector over the Mississippi to class instead of walking across the bridge.

I felt guilty but it was like 90 degrees with 99% humidity and people were going to be sitting next to me in class.

My guilt was soon lifted because also on the bus were a couple dozen Golden Gopher athletes!
(The athletes all take some class from a skinny professor across the hall from me.)

Big, muscle-y, tall, and maroon & gold workout gear clad student athletes!

Too bad they all probably worked out for 4 hours that day before they got on the bus....

Every little bit helps!

Thanks for promoting exercise, MtheP!

Here is yet another new sport drink product

with a cool bottle shape:

I am not a huge sport drink person, I like plain old water. I do like inventive design though. How many calories do I lose for that?

Guess who went to the gym today!?!?!

I did!
And so did my friends K. and C., they are my witnesses.

I power walked and went on the eliptical for 30 min each. I talked to K. and C. for, oh 40-60 minutes....I am great at talking!

I also walked the 8 blocks to the gym and then walked back.

You know, the gym I go to is pretty wonderful, it is community oriented with all kind of people, they wear sweats and tee-shirts, and they don't all look like supermodels. I could get to like going there all the time! I hope!

It's not a tumor!

I took a peek at the Strib's health blog today.

The topic is cell phones and brain tumors.

I just skimmed it. The best part was this picture:

Ah, health journalism is a slippery slope of mis-information and poor interpretation.

I think the gist is that your cell phone is not going to give you a tumor.

I'll keep an eye on the blog for further insights.

Here I sit, very hungry and craving Chipotle.

I wish my body understood the whole input must be equal too output concept.

I am starving even though I ate breakfast and have only been sitting at my desk all day. Eating a 1200 calorie burrito makes total sense to my stomach right now.

I am about to leave to find food and I am going to try to be brave. I curse the day they closed the little Taco Bell in the Stadium Village. I could be getting a slightly less caloric 7 layer burrito to appease myself.
Oh but it makes a difference! Yes it does. It makes a difference when one uses that logic for most meals!

Here I go working towards improving my logic!

It's Log! Log! Log!

My Chess Friend suggested this fitness training website to me. You can track you workouts, diet and weight plus enlist friends to motivate you and monitor you.

I know I have used similar sites in the past, mainly to monitor my food choices, and found it helpful just to be able to see what I had been eating and doing.

And here is the Log song from Ren and Stimpy for your enjoyment:
